Filtration efficiency: same 95% target, different test methods
Both KN95 and N95 are designed to filter at least 95% of airborne particles, but they are verified under different test methods and standards. KN95 is tested to the Chinese GB2626 standard, while N95 is tested to the US NIOSH standard. The two standards use different test aerosols, flow rates and pass criteria, so a respirator that passes one is not automatically certified under the other. For procurement, treat the certification as market-specific rather than assuming cross-standard equivalence.
- KN95: tested to GB2626 (China)
- N95: tested to NIOSH (US)
- Both target at least 95% particle filtration
- Different test methods mean no automatic cross-certification
