What an exhalation valve does
An exhalation valve is a one-way flap that lets exhaled air escape more easily, reducing heat and moisture build-up inside the respirator. This makes valved respirators more comfortable for extended wear, especially in warm environments or during physically demanding work. The valve opens on exhalation and closes on inhalation, so it does not reduce the filtration of inhaled air.
